What to expect
Once you cross 200 guests, infrastructure drives the decision more than aesthetics. Site fees for large Atlanta venues commonly land between $6,000 and $18,000 for a peak Saturday, and hotel ballrooms replace that with a food and beverage minimum that scales with the room — frequently $100 to $200 per person before service charge and tax.
Catering capacity is the constraint that quietly limits your options. A 300-guest plated dinner requires a real commercial kitchen, adequate staffing and a service path from kitchen to floor that does not cross the dance floor. Ask what the largest plated dinner the venue has hosted actually was, and whether the caterer needed a mobile kitchen to do it.
Parking, restrooms and load-in scale too. Plan on roughly one parking space per two to two and a half guests, ask whether valet or a shuttle is required at your count, and confirm restroom counts — a 300-person reception with four stalls creates a line that people remember. Guest-count minimums also become common at this size, so read whether you are contractually committed to a floor you might not hit.

Downtown and Midtown hold the largest ballrooms in the city, with convention-grade capacity, hotel room blocks in the same building and the parking decks a 300-guest wedding requires.
Buckhead offers the same scale in a more polished setting through hotels and private clubs, with valet infrastructure already in place.
Outside the perimeter, Marietta, Alpharetta, Conyers and McDonough hold the large event barns, conference centers and estate properties that give you 250 to 500 guests with surface parking and easier load-in — usually at a lower per-guest cost than intown.
